A motorbike shop on the A64 has got some big plans for 2019. GMEC Motorcycles, Main Street, Staxton are jump starting spring with the return of their Wednesday night bike meets. From the end of February the bar and café will be open from 5.30pm - late.
In August the motorcycle shop, garage and café will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Heron Suzuki GS1000s kept at GMEC, which was raced by Barry Sheene at the August Bank Holiday meeting at Oulton Park, 1979.
GMEC will also be celebrating its one year anniversary at their current location, which has a pretty special back story.
The former pub, which was named The Hare and Hounds and owned by the Haynes family in the early 1920s, has some of the earliest evidence of motorcycle meets in the UK.
