A competition to find the best outdoor Christmas decorations in Cayton was judged by the deputy mayor, Cllr Guy Coulson.
“He was extremely complimentary about the high standard of entries and how festive the village was looking”, said spokesperson Rhona Liley.
The house which won the section for unusual or animated entries was 24 West End View, followed by 18 The Pastures and 168 Main Street.
The property with the best traditional decorations was 23 Main Street, with 18 Jackson Close in second place. Joint third were 114 West Garth and 33 The Pastures.
Methodist minister Rosie Cole, the Salvation Army, Cayton School pupils and Father Christmas joined the carol singing around a Christmas tree outside the Star Inn just before Christmas. “It was well supported by the local community”, said Rhona.
A collection was taken for the Salvation Army Band.
