Filey Lifeboat Weekend 2018

  • Filey Lifeboat House (map)

A fun-filled programme of events is planned over the weekend with something for every member of the family to help raise funds for Filey Lifeboat Station.

The annual raft race, this year, will take place on the Saturday afternoon from about 1.30pm and teams are encouraged to enter. There will also be a static display by the White Rose Goldwings Motorcycle group who will also run a tombola at the boathouse on Coble Landing. Lifeboat souvenirs will be on sale as well as second-hand books. There will also be an exhibition of trial bikes.

The main event on Sunday will be the launching of both lifeboats just after 1pm and we hope for a display by the new Coastguard helicopter (subject to any call-outs). Dearne Big Band will be on hand to entertain everyone, whilst Magic Mike will be hosting a series of shows on Coble Landing for the children. The Ramshackle Shanty Men will also be performing their songs. Other emergency services will provide static displays along with Filey Rotary’s Human Fruit Machine. There will be a massive tombola, a selection of games as well as the chance for youngsters to “win a duck”; all of which will take place at the lifeboat boathouse. And the RNLI’s very own Stormy Stan will be on hand throughout the weekend.

David Wilson, Chairman of Filey RNLI said: “The RNLI relies solely on donations from the public and every penny that we raise on Lifeboat weekend will go towards the running of Filey Lifeboat Station. With 5 miles of beautiful sandy beach, it promises to be a weekend for all the family. We look forward to good weather this year and plenty of visitors to help Filey Lifeboat”
